It seems like ages ago that I wrote a post here. Our summer holidays had to be cancelled because my father-in-law passed away. Just before we were about to leave for our trip to Scotland, his health deteriorated so quickly that we did not dare take the risk that we would have to come home from abroad. So we made the right decision and stayed at home. We were also busy installing both our sons in their own abodes, one of them just a mile away from us, and the other one up north. We have become experts in assembling flat packs from our Swedish friend by now. After that a family reunion that our branch of the family had to organise this year, help our brother move house and settle into his new home ( the time is ripe for him to give up living on his own, now that his mental health condition is slowly getting worse) and now you will understand why there was little time and room in my head for felting.
With the International Day of Felt coming near, I was happy to receive the commission of making a red shawl or scarf for a dear ex- colleague. She can’t have known that her choice of colour would blend in so nicely with this year’s colour theme in the Felt United gettogether. I made three so that she has a choice and used some leftover fabric to make a necklace for myself.
Het is al weer een hele tijd geleden dat ik iets van mij heb laten horen. Vlak voordat we naar Schotland zouden reizen verslechterde de gezondheid van mijn schoonvader zo snel, dat het niet verantwoord was om op vakantie te gaan. Ons voorgevoel bleek juist, want hij is inderdaad in die tijd overleden. Verder gingen beide zoons deze zomer op kamers wonen en daar kun je het als ouders ook flink druk mee hebben:) De Ikea bouwpakketten hebben voor ons geen geheimen meer. Een familiereünie die wij dit jaar zouden organiseren, het verhuizen van mijn broer die niet meer zelfstandig kan wonen: voor vilten was er niet de tijd en ook niet de ruimte in mijn hoofd.
Gelukkig kreeg ik van een vroegere collega de vraag of ik voor haar een rode sjaal zou willen maken. Laat die kleur nu ook net voorgeschreven zijn voor de bijdrage aan de Felt United internationale viltersdag op 1 oktober! Ik heb er meteen maar drie
gemaakt, zodat zij een keuze heeft. Daarna moest ik natuurlijk ook nog even voor mezelf iets maken: een viltketting met allerlei restjes voile stof. Hoewel rood niet mijn kleur is eigenlijk, vind ik hem toch wel grappig geworden.
